Since creation, we were set to preside over this land and its animals. Livestock farming is an integral part of us, it is a way of life, a passion and a skill. It can take years of refinement and improvement as farmers and herders strive to build the perfect herd in ever changing conditions, to deliver the best livestock to feed our society.
At Kraal we share this passion, commitment and heritage and are taking traditional livestock farming forward by augmenting it with the latest technologies. We create new ways for farmers to stay connected and in touch with their livestock and provide previously unattainable insights. We enable farmers to progress their herd, improve operation and performance and make radical advances in sustainable livestock management, production and health.

Our digital, solar powered, GPS ear tag, easily fitted with a normal applicator, continuously tracks the location of your livestock over long distances. After creating custom virtual fences you will receive realtime movement and location-based updates, knowing at all times where your animals are. With configurable rules, you create your own set of rules and conditions to alert you of unwanted livestock movement or locations.

OUR solution
Kraal Tag
Our digital ear tag with GPS and multiple sensors is small and lightweight (35g) and is easily applied to livestock with a normal tag applicator. The tag is small and fits inside the ear of the animal to reduce snagging.
Our tag is solar powered and needs no recharging. It is robust and designed to last up to 5 years and can be reused on different animals.
In ideal conditions the tag has a range of up to 15km giving accurate, high resolution, location and multi sensor data no matter where on the farm the animals are.
Our tag is well priced and comes in at about 25% of any legacy products.
Gateway
Our gateway creates a long range radio network that receives the data from the Kraal tag and sends it to the Kraal cloud platform. Depending on the topography one or more gateways are installed to receive and forward data from the tags to the cloud platform.

Our bespoke cloud software platform, LivestockOS, strengthens the connection between farmers and their livestock.
LivestockOS tracks and monitors livestock 24×7, receives alerts, manages livestock and farm records and analyses herd behaviour and performance.
The constant data feed, aided by AI and machine learning, delivers an optimised package of productivity, health, wellbeing and profitability for every animal within a herd to support farming decisions.
LivestockOS keeps all animal records, including veterinary, breeding and feeding habits. It also allows you to keep track of animals in real time, check their status and see historic data.
LivestockOS is compatible on mobile and desktops and is easy to use with interactive maps and regular new releases.

Our purpose and commitment is to have real impact – for farmers, livestock, consumers and the environment.
Sensors and data on their own have limited utility and is subject to shortsightedness and popular trends. To make it relevant and meaningful, it must be coupled with strong scientific and mathematical models. Combining modern-day and exponential technology, including AI, blockchain, big data and IoT, with age-old know-how, it is now possible for farmers to have an intricate understanding of each animal’s health, behaviour, movement and economic value, giving them a greater ability to grow their farming enterprises.
Inspired by the traditional cattle farmers and herders of founder Ian Bester’s Southern African childhood, and the deep, innate understanding they possessed of their animals’ health and well-being, Kraal is a bold vision to improve farming for animals, farmers, consumers and the environment by connecting every animal to their Livestock Operating System
